Detailed Steps

Step by Step

Step 01

Sourcing & Procurement

Raw nut-in-shell is sourced directly from thousands of smallholder farmers across the fertile volcanic slopes of Mount Kenya, ensuring full traceability from orchard to factory gate.

Step 02

Intake & Quality Check

Incoming nuts are weighed and inspected at our FSSC 22000 certified facility in Muthara, Meru County. Foreign matter is removed and moisture levels are assessed on arrival.

Step 03

☀️ Drying

Nut-in-shell is carefully dried under controlled conditions to achieve moisture levels <2.0%, preserving kernel integrity and extending shelf life.

Step 04

Cracking & Kernel Recovery

Precision cracking equipment separates kernels from shells with minimal damage, maximising whole-kernel recovery rates and reducing waste.

Step 05

🔍 Grading & Sorting

Kernels are graded by size, colour, and quality into commercial styles. Kernel size is ≥16 mm, yielding 95% premium wholes and 5% halves — meeting international buyer specifications.

Step 06

Quality Control Testing

Every batch undergoes full laboratory testing for moisture content, free fatty acids, peroxide value, and microbiological safety before release. All results are documented for traceability.

Step 07

Packaging

Premium kernels are weighed (11.34 Kgs / 25 pounds) in food-grade aluminium pouches, nitrogen-flushed, vacuum-sealed and put into cartons for protecting the quality in the warehouse and transit.

Step 08

🌐 Export Documentation & Dispatch

Shipments are accompanied by Certificates of Analysis, phytosanitary certificates, and all required export documentation. Goods are dispatched via Mombasa port or JKIA to markets worldwide.
